February 5, 2010: Somat Engineering, Inc is pleased to announce the hiring of Victoria Person, PE, CP as Assistant Project Manager for Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering services.

Person has worked in the consulting industry for more than 18 years in the areas of geotechnical and environmental engineering. During her career, while employed with the G2 Consulting Group in Troy, she was involved in many noteworthy projects in southeast Michigan including projects involving combined sewer overflow design with the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.

Person has geotechnical design experience in earth support systems; tower foundations; retaining walls; piles; tie-back walls; gabion walls; and structures associated with micro-tunneling operations. She also has extensive experience in geotechnical instrumentation including vibration monitoring. Her environmental experience includes Phase I and II Remedial Investigations, UST closures, landfill design, hydrogeologic studies, and preparation of Feasibility Studies and Engineering Evaluations and Cost Analysis reports for State and Federal regulatory agencies.

Person has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in geotechnical engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Person also teaches Physics and Astronomy at Oakland Community College. Her expertise in both the geotechnical and environmental engineering fields will contribute to Somat’s ability to provide innovative solutions.
