Somat Engineering, Inc. named to Michigan 50 Companies to WatchSM
for 2010
Detroit, MI - June 28, 2010 - Somat Engineering, Inc. was named
to the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch list and was honored at the
Michigan Celebrates Small Business event on April 29, 2010, in Lansing,
Michigan.
Somat has 25 years of award-winning experience in infrastructure
engineering, including geotechnical, structural, environmental and
construction consulting and testing for both public and private
sector clients. Most recently, the firm has expanded into providing
selected innovative information technology services, with a focus
on knowledge management and intelligent transportation systems.
Headquartered in Detroit, Somat also maintains offices in Grand
Rapids, Taylor, MI, Cleveland, OH, Washington, DC, and Bangalore,
India.

Michigan 50 Companies to Watch is presented by Michigan Celebrates
Small Business, in association with the Edward Lowe Foundation,
Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Small Business
& Technology Development Center, Small Business Association
of Michigan and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Winners
were selected by Michigan-based judges from the banking, economic
development, entrepreneurship development and venture capital communities.
The awards program celebrates and honors second-stage companies
throughout the state of Michigan. Known for their performance in
the marketplace, innovation, philanthropy and empowered employees,
these companies come from a wide range of industries across the
state. These second-stage companies are recognized as powerhouses
for job creation in the region. During 2005-2007, 57,000 second-stage
Michigan companies employed more than 1.3 million workers (35 percent
of the jobs created by companies headquartered in the state).
