Somat Engineering, Inc. Added to U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) Omnibus Contract Detroit, MI - June 2, 2010 - DRIVE Developments (DRIVE), Inc. recently added Somat Engineering, Inc. (Somat) to their impressive and growing list of TARDEC Omnibus teammates. The total estimated dollar value of the task orders awarded under this U.S. Army acquisition contract will be up to $500 million, over a five (5) year period. Both DRIVE and Somat are "Michigan 50 Companies to Watch" alumni, and DRIVE was recently recognized by Crain's Detroit Business as a Michigan defense company to watch. "We are proud to be able to announce the addition of Somat to our team and we look forward to expanding our relationship," said DRIVE President and CEO Larry Osentoski. DRIVE and Somat are also working together on upcoming bids to support the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation's (SMART) requirements for real-time mobility and diagnostic information on and off their buses. SMART is embracing the trend in public transportation agencies to share more information with their riders to enhance security, reduce vehicle maintenance costs and improve customer service. DRIVE's primary product, the Diagnostic Information Management Environment (DIME) is capable of supporting a wide array of real-time mobility and diagnostic related functions. "By combining our products and capabilities with those of Somat, DRIVE believes that we can win a number of upcoming bids and proposals at both the State and Federal levels," said Osentoski.
